Mike Gardner

I started working when I was about 10 or 11 but got my first job in hospitality when I was about 15 spending 10 years at the same pub through School, university and other ‘gaps’ where I needed to earn some money.  I worked every role – KP, Chef, waiter, bar, manager, cellar even cleaner when I wanted the hours.  I held various other hospitality roles including Burger flipping at the local show ground, waiter at the lords mayors banquet for Mossiman’s and bar man in the Students’ Union  whilst studying hospitality in Bournemouth.

I had a brief career as a Graphic designer, spent a couple of years working in Europe as a holiday rep before landing my first recruitment job in a generalist agency supplying anything from Dustmen to Legal secretaries.  In 2005 I moved to London and landed a job working for one of the big Hospitality agencies on the busy desk supplying Event Staff – I was briefly poached by a client before returning and spending 10 years ending up as Operations Director running half the company.  I started Appetite4Work with Nick in 2015 with a mission to put the staff at the forefront of what we do.  I’m very active within the business and I’m at my happiest on site at a busy event talking to the people who matter – our staff and clients.
